New Google Updates
On Monday, 2/27, Google confirmed a new Panda run, and announced 40 algorithm changes. You can read the official announcement here: http://insidesearch.blogspot.com/2012/02/search-quality-highlights-40-changes.html
There’s a LOT of things going on in these updates, and we will be doing a post specifically to summarize the new changes & updates.
Among the notable and more significant areas being tweaked are evaluation of backlinks, ‘freshness’, local search results, how Google detects ‘official’ and original pages, it’s index of images, and more local relevance for Youtube results.
Panda, which is a separate, additional set of calculations performed on the search index, was run on 2/27 as well. Panda looks at a wide range of metrics including content quality, backlinks profile, and ‘user experience’ factors such as load time, ‘time on site’, and ‘bounce rate’, and determines a ‘ranking adjustment factor’ that is applied to a site outside of the ‘regular’ ranking algorithm. This means that however your pages are ranking, Panda may push entire sites up or down. And because Panda is run periodically (3-8 weeks between runs), unlike the ‘regular’ search algorithm which ranks pages in real-time, it’s effects will ‘stay’ until the next Panda run. This means if your site is hit, you’ll have to figure out why, adjust accordingly, and wait until the next run for any Panda-related re-adjustments to happen.
Not only is Panda is here to stay, it’s really the ‘beginning’ of broad and profound changes affecting search, social, and nearly every area of the internet. “Reference $100k Blueprint” which will be available to you very shortly, goes into what this all means, what to do in order to stay in front of the curve, and very specifically how to succeed in Internet Marketing going forward.
So much is happening in our industry; we’re experiencing the shift from “Internet Marketing 1.0″ to “Internet Marketing 2.0″. We now have to take into account profound changes in how our sites perform in the search engines, the growning significance and importance of Social Media and Social Networking, and the rapidly-growing prevalence of a mobile internet.

Video Tip: Did you know you can upload transcripts of your videos on Youtube? This gives you tremendous SEO benefits when someone is searching on Youtube. You can find plenty of Fiverr gigs to create text file transcripts of videos…
